Button 2.5-seater sofa

swedese > Sofa

The Button sofa is designed by the design duo Front, with inspiration from Swedese's design archive. The goal was to take hold of Swedese's strong anchoring in the Scandinavian design heritage and make a contemporary interpretation. This ambition is not least noticeable in the use of bent wood and the leather details, which contributed to creating a piece of furniture that works equally well in public environments as in private homes. The wooden frame is available in ash and oak. The family also includes an armchair. The Buttons wooden buttons make it possible to develop the sofa's functions by attaching accessories. Choose the color you want, and then add a cushion or a magazine holder to make the sofa your very own. Can be obtained with 3 cm higher legs at the back.

The Hess Mikal Harrsen, 2023

karakterCopenhagen > Table

Inspired by a drum kit, The Hess melds form and function in one carefully considered design. Award-winning architect and industrial designer Mikal Harrsen came up with the design for The Hess after a conversation with a drummer friend who wanted a dining table for his new home. As a result, the large circular table boasts a mechanical steel structure intended to resemble a drum. Trained as a carpenter, Harrsen sought to move away from his wood-making background. Nonetheless, his expertise is apparent in the precise structural design of The Hess table, which features three steels legs that intersect to support a stone tabletop. Each adjustment mechanism – such as the screws on the table’s feet – were exaggerated and emphasized as Harrsen deliberately integrated them into the overall design. “The Hess has a very open expression,” explains Harrsen. “It’s a nice, strong structure that you can fit in a big room to encourage people to sit around and enjoy conversation.”

Clean lines, remarkable comfort, Tribo is a practical and versatile low stacking stool. Created by Ilse Lang, it is the perfect result of aesthetic and efficient design.Available in two sizes, this version will be perfect to welcome guests at a table or coffee table without taking up space when storing. Pieces of furniture created by Ilse Lang are particularly noteworthy in the way that they always combine aestheticism and function. Tribo stool is surely one of the most beautiful examples. The slots distributed all around the circumference of this very comfortable round and widened seat give to this creation a very contemporary character. These slots also enable to stack the stools the ones on the others. A shape linked with a specific use: here stacking. To design this creation, Ilse Lang took as a starting point the traditional wooden stools used by the “gauchos” - southern Brazilian cowboys - as they gathered together around campfires while drinking maté.A great comfort, a pure design, either table or bar model: Tribo is the stool you will love.

Recognizable by their singular style and admirable by the perfection of their realization, the furniture of the Cristian Valdés collection has become references and cult objects highly sought after by connoisseurs and lovers of design. 3rd creation of this collection, the H armchair naturally complements the first two chairs. More generous in size, it uses the construction method common to the entire range but changes its configuration to position the wooden parts in front and behind and not on the sides. Its soft curves make it a very comfortable and elegant seat, the natural leather of which will take on a magnificent patina over time. A truly magnificent piece. Alongside his main activity, the Chilean architect Cristian Valdés dabbled in furniture design. For him, the only fundamental difference between design and architecture is a question of scale. The collection of furniture he creates is the concrete result of the intersection of these two worlds. The idea came to him after analyzing the structure and construction of a Dunlop tennis racket similar to the one John McEnroe played with at the time. He develops a constructive system which is the functional and structural translation. This system will be used for all the furniture in the collection. 3rd creation of this collection, the H armchair naturally complements the first two chairs. Do you know the famous "Nebra Sky Disc"? The bronze plate, discovered in 1999, is considered to be the oldest depiction of the firmament. Without any doubt, it is one of the most beautiful manmade objects ever. Formally, it plays with round shapes - just like the NEBRA coffee table which the Stuttgart designer Stephan Veit has designed for us. It is available as a circular, minimalist sculpture, but as well with a perfectly round additional swivel plate. In a sense, this is predetermined framework set by Veit.  And now it's your turn!  You can make the NEBRA your very own design with colored metals, woods and natural stone tops. Thus, the NEBRA becomes an eye-catcher with plenty of presentation space for books, magazines, vases and everything you love and want to have ready at hand. Sounds like heaven, right?

In his designs, Alvar Aalto combines the functional ideas of the Bauhaus with the Scandinavian crafts tradition and a strong sense of unity with Nature. This led to an exchange of ideas with Marcel Breuer and later influenced the work of both men. <br/><br/>Aalto designed Armchair No. 41 for the Sanatorium of the City of Paimio in Finland, a building for which he also created the plans and interior design. The armchair is of a simple, highly effective construction, because the rolled-up ends of the seat and back also function as springs &#8211; affording the sitter a degree of comfort hitherto unknown in wooden furniture. The armchair was also exceptionally well suited for series production, as it involves very few components and thus little assembly work.

Marc Newson originally produced the Lockheed Lounge as the centerpiece of an exhibition of his pieces at the Roslyn Oxley Gallery in Sydney. It was widely acclaimed and was bought by the National Gallery of Australia. <br/><br/>Its concept was based &#187;loosely, very loosely&#171; on the chaise longue in Jacques-Louis David's 1800 portrait of Madame Recamier. &#187;I had this image of a fluid, aluminium form. The shape was sculpted out of a piece of foam, the exact same way you'd create a surfboard. The only way to get the aluminium on was to beat little pieces of metal into shape with a wooden mallet and attach them with rivets. That's where the airplane metaphor came from. So I called it the Lockheed Lounge.

The curved forms of the Gaivota rocking chair were defined by Reno Bonzon, as he was sat in deep snow during a stay in the Alps and had a look at his bodyprint after standing up. Keeping ergonomics in mind, Reno wanted to reproduce this comfortable shape. The emblematic part of the work of Reno Bonzon is certainly the rocking chair "Gaivota", probably the most rewarded creation in Brazil, combining at the same time aestheticism and ergonomy. Both Museum of the Brazilian House Prize and Movesp Prize winner in 1988, this creation was selected in 1990 to represent Brazil at the Biennial of Design in São Paulo. The curved forms of both seat and back were defined by Reno Bonzon, as he was sat in deep snow during a stay in French Alps and had a look at his body print after standing up. Keeping ergonomy in mind, Reno wanted to reproduce this comfortable form. He paid a special attention to both dimensions and balance making this rocking chair very comfortable whatever the size of the person may be.The Jury of the Museum of the Brazilian House Prize particularly underlined "the principle of manufacturing giving the product its great lightness" as well as "the aesthetic qualities combined with the ergonomic factor". For the sake of environment he chose the plywood manufacturing process in order to give value to wood trimmings. Furthermore this process allowing the creation of large curves, Reno took  advantage of this property to introduce the movement in his creationThe design of the rocking chair, its sinuous curves, irrevocably reminds the movement even statically represented on a picture. Elegance and comfort characterize the Gaivota.

The design concept is completed by reference to the age-old rammed earth construction technique, used in northern Jordan since the eighth millennium BCE and widely applied in Yemen in many other desert or rural settings until the mid 19thC.<br>In this method, the raw earth is compacted inside wooden formwork to construct continuous structural walls, bearing walls or partitions inside homes, with a natural decorative effect due to the layering of the different shades of clay used. When creating his project for CEDIT, Peri was also influenced by several design inputs: from rural African homes to the clear, simple geometric forms and curved lines typical of the work of Gio Ponti, the curves central to the modernist gardens of Brazilian landscape artist Roberto Burle Marx, and the three-dimensional mosaics of English sculptor William Mitchell. In his murals in concrete, glass and recycled materials, Mitchell seems to combine some of the typical features of a variety of artistic movements, from Modernism to Brutalism, and also shows awareness of the issues concerning the structure of the landscape and the relationship with nature at the heart of Land Art. COMPATTA thus embodies strong links to the world of art and architecture, while bringing natural impressions with a remote, primitive flavour into modern living-spaces.</p>
