The PK24™ chaise longue chair stands out as perhaps the most recognisable chair in Fritz Hansen’s Poul Kjærholm’s collection. Inspired by the Rococo period and the French chaise longue, Kjærholm used steel to support a curvy, flowing form. He labelled it the ’Hammock Chair’ to stress that it functions by suspending the body between two points.

Edge Pot

Edge is a series of understated, hand-thrown terracotta pots in a range of sizes and finishes produced in Portugal using local clay. Inspired by ancient Greek amphora and traditional pottery techniques, the pots taper gently towards the base where they rest on a raised foot. Designed by the Danish ceramic duo Stilleben. Designed for indoor use, the Edge Pot in size Ø35 is an attractive piece to house larger plants on large windowsills or on the floor. It includes a small metal grid in the base that allows water to drain. The pot does not have a drainage hole.
PK25™

The PK25™ was designed by Poul Kjærholm for his final graduation project at the School of Arts and Crafts in 1952. Also known as the ‘Element’ chair, the PK25 is a striking example of Kjærholm’s eagerness to transform common, industrial materials into striking works of art. Kjærholm was determined to reduce the chair to a single piece of each material, resulting in its overarching hallmark: the continual steel frame that bends through the form without interruption.

Grand Prix™

The Grand Prix™ chair is an iconic Arne Jacobsen design with a graphic edge. It was introduced at the Designers’ Spring Exhibition at the Danish Museum of Art & Design in 1957. Later that year, the chair was displayed at the Triennale in Milan, where it received the Grand Prix, the finest distinction of the exhibition. The celebrated chair comes in a range of models and can be customised with an almost endless variety of colours, wood types and upholstery. Wooden legs are angled smoothly outwards in this design, mimicking the steel legs of Jacobsen’s other plywood chairs. This is one of the few Arne Jacobsen chair designs with wooden legs. Remember that the Grand Prix chair with wooden legs is not stackable.

The ingenious construction is adjustable by design, allowing the pieces in the Riviera collection to transform in both expression and functionality and can easily be supplemented by a comfortable cushion. Riviera Cushion is custom-made for the Riviera Sunbed bringing an extra element of comfort for summer days relaxing. The backside is designed with an anti-slide textile that keeps the cushion in place. The cushion can be folded so it fits the versatile purposes of Riviera. The weatherproof upholstery textiles are Oeko-Tex® certified and extremely colourfast, lightfast, water and dirt-repellent and mildew-resistant. The three-legged Ant is inspired by the simple, agricultural stools created to stand firmly on uneven floors in Danish farmhouses. The chair beautifully exemplifies Jacobsen’s understanding of the inherent strength of raw materials, consisting of only two parts: the combined seat and backrest in form-pressed plywood and a tubular steel frame.

The chair is made from 9 layers of pressure moulded veneer for strength, flexibility and durability despite its slender form. This is the most popular design within Fritz Hansen’s chair collection. The original Series 7 chair is the 3207. It was launched in 1955 at the H55 international design exhibition in Sweden as Arne Jacobsen’s reply to the criticism he received for the Ant chair. The 3207 provided a striking response with perfectly proportioned armrests that follow the contours of the curved backrest while extending the smooth lines of the rear legs to create a perfectly balanced and supremely comfortable design.
