FONTANELLA MEDIUM
fontanaarte > Wall lamp
Two materials: metal and glass, as in the historic tradition of FontanaArte. The metal acts as a base and contains the light source while the glass, the true protagonist of the project, is expertly worked by skilled craftsmen in a process of fusion between a portion of transparent glass and a satin one from which the light diffuses. Fontanella is formed by the union of two glasses: the internal tube is threaded, sandblasted and finally joined with the bubble-shaped blown glass. What makes the processing particularly refined is the manual joining of the two parts, which requires the skillful technique of a craftsman. Furthermore, the glass, which has always been the material par excellence of the FontanaArte product, is the most crystalline on the market. The use of light bulbs, dimmable and not dimmable, for the biggest energy saving, complete the contemporaneity of this FontanaArte piece.
PINECONE LARGE
fontanaarte > Table lamp
Pinecone is a suspension and table lamp. The diffuser is manufactured using the ancient caged blown glass technique: the glass maker blows the molten glass blob into a metal cage, which only partly contains the blob's natural expansion. In this way, the glass surface is partly trapped by and partly escapes the cage, generating an impression of tension as the object struggles to free itself from its harness; the cage is further enriched by the galvanic treatment that makes it look glossy and brilliant. The transparent version, in particular, reveals a two-fold structure that multiplies the scenic effect, while the metal cage pattern projects kaleidoscopic shade effects on the surrounding surfaces. On the contrary, in the white version the glass delicately envelops the cage surface and enhances its geometric pattern, generating an elegant and visually pleasing diffused light. The lighting fixture makes a highly appealing and striking impact either switched on or off.

NASKA SMALL
fontanaarte > Table lamp
The Naska family of lamps is a classic from 1933. Simple and functional, with a revolving, adjustable arm, it is available in three different versions – table, floor and wall. More than any other lamp, Naska expresses an unmistakable identity through its archetypal form. It is the desk lamp par excellence, the original ancestor of every lamp with a spring-balanced arm. A timeless object, suitable for both domestic spaces and those dedicated to work.
FONTANA MEDIUM
fontanaarte > Table lamp
Designed in 1954 by the famous French Master glassmaker and decorator Max Ingrand, this lamp was originally named 1853 and, at a later time, Fontana, in homage to the company of which the Master was Artistic Director for a decade. For design enthusiasts and connoisseurs of the brand’s history, 1853 still remains as a sort of nickname. The first symbol of timeless object of design, still today best seller and evergreen design icon, Fontana is the abat-jour par excellence. The peculiarity of Fontana is its multiple light sources: both the base and the lampshade contain one or more. The larger version also allows indirect lighting, thanks to an additional source that projects a beam of indirect light upwards. The differentiated light sources make it possible to satisfy different lighting needs: from a soft, relaxing glow to a sharp beam for reading to suggestive ambient light. Available also with Led light sources. A fabulous lamp in frosted white blown glass, already riedited in a total black variant, it is now proposed in a colored and brand new version - light grey and purple amethyst - to reinforce the contemporaneity of the project. “Light and colour are centrainly the most specific elements in nature. With them we have RELIEF, MOTION, LIFE” stated Max Ingrand. “Actually the history of architecture tells us what was the role of illuminated, opaque, translucent colour in interior and exterior architecture (…)Light was no longer just a means to breathe life into colour but became a means to breathe life into an entire architecture.”

LUMINATOR
fontanaarte > Floor lamp
Luminator is one of the first projects that Pietro Chiesa, then the owner of a workshop in Milan specialized in artistic glasswork, created for FontanaArte, where he would later become artistic director alongside Gio Ponti. The first indirect light floor lamp, Luminator is composed of a thin metal shaft that opens into a cone, inside which is the light source. A single element resting on a circular base, it is a lamp of an almost abstract rigor and purity, and is by far one of the most extraordinary pieces designed by Pietro Chiesa.

OORT
fontanaarte > Ceiling lamp
The OORT system is composed of tubular elements made of borosilicate glass. Inside them are flexible LED light tubes of the latest generation, easily replaceable, with perfectly uniform 360° light emission and certified also for outdoor use. The borosilicate glass is ribbed on the inside, a feature that enhances the light by making it warm and welcoming, brings out the effect of light and shadow, and allows easy cleaning of the smooth outer surface. The light is diffuse, dimmable and available at 3000K (1900Lm/m) or Dim To Warm which allows to change the colour temperature, by dimming, from minumum 1800K to 4000K at maximum intensity. The flux is dimmer-dependent to a maximum of approx 1000Lm/m. The product can be supplied at 2700K on request.
EQUATORE SMALL
fontanaarte > Ceiling lamp
Equatore is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic lamp with a glass shade. While the traditional abat-jour uses the shade to contain the light source within, in this family of lamps the shade is paradoxically and suggestively empty, with the light being generated by two luminous discs placed inside a central metal band, visible on the shade, that evokes the line of the equator. The light produced by the Leds, thanks to internal screens arranged in layers, is distributed regularly across the surface of the discs, magically illuminating them. The bottom disc directs the light output downward, the upper one illuminates the glass cap for a soft, diffused light. Available in table, floor and ceiling models, in two sizes and two colors: a cooler version in gray with a dark chrome frame, and a warmer version with a transparent dove gray cap and a copper-colored frame.
BIANCA SMALL
fontanaarte > Wall lamp
Bianca is a family of luminaires with the decoration on the diffuser surface features an orderly series of shallow delicate grooves etched into the white glass, yielding an effect resembling small footprints on fresh snow. Mouth blown, belt sanded and dipped in acid to obtain the distinctive 'silk effect' typical of fine glassware, Bianca diffusers are available in three different diameters to complete all thirteen types of luminaires belonging to the family. The largest diffuser has a 50 cm diameter and, owing to its dimensions and the amount of glass involved, continues to pose a considerable challenge even for the ablest of glassbbottoms trained in the fixed-mould blowing technique, which – according to the traditional Venetian production process – is performed without any external aids for turning and shaping the glass blob inside the mould, but relies solely on the glassbbottom's skill and lung capacity. Bianca is available in the following versions: table-top without stem, floor-standing with base and stem, pendant, wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted. The matt white coating applied to the various metal supports evokes the name and colour of the diffuser. Bianca produces a very warm, diffused and enveloping light emission in the surrounding environment.
NOBI MEDIUM
fontanaarte > Wall lamp
In floor, wall and suspension versions, Nobi guarantees total practicality for innovative elegant design. The adjoined convex lenses are held in place by a system of small clamps and fixed to the metal structure with two pins, the same on which the light source is also mounted. The diffuser can thus rotate on itself and orient the light flow in different directions. Innovative and available in multiple versions, Nobi provides maximum functionality while retaining a powerful aesthetic presence.
RE
fontanaarte > Table lamp
Inspired by the game of chess with their sinuous shapes, Re and Regina are the key characters of the chessboard. Their profiles stand out clearly in the white light diffused by opalescent glass. Real individuals, they play in pairs alternating spheres, cylinders and rings of light. Vertical the King (Re), horizontal the Queen (Regina). They can be placed next to each other or in different spots in the same room, be used as floor or table lamps, on a coffee table or a desk, both Re and Regina have the presence to create a context. The dimmer allows to modulate the light making it a surreal element with different degrees of intensity: an element of representation that releases energy in space when the light is bright, abstract and restful when the light is soft and low. Glass sculptures during the day in environments illuminated by natural light. Re and Regina are inspired by the history of art, from Cosmè Tura to the Flemish interiors of Jan Van Eych to the conceptual imagery of Marcel Duchamp who plays chess as a lifestyle. Re and Regina are Cartesian axes of a universe that crosses ages and cultures. In 2020 FontanaArte reintroduces these glass lamps as a sign of the expressive wealth contained in the great repertory of ideas that is the FontanaArte catalogue and, most importantly an homage to the talent of an artist who had a gift for calibrating the formal tension of a utilitarian object on a quest for unity among the arts.

MERIDIANO MEDIUM
fontanaarte > Ceiling lamp
The "shape of light" is the central theme of this project by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, which began with the Equatore family of lamps, presented in 2017 and now expanded to include other finishes, and continues with the new Meridiano and Tropico. Forms of glass and metal that collect, contain and diffuse light in space. Passing between opaline, coloured and transparent layers, emphasised by the refined curves and the magic of blown glass, the light is free to create surprising and fascinating effects, patterns and moods. In the new Meridiano lamp, the vertical cylindrical tube contains and diffuses the light in the transparent glass capsule, which defines its refined ovoid shape. Available in two sizes, Meridiano is available as a medium-size and large suspended lamp, to be used individually or in multiples arranged in groups. The table version is offered in the medium size.

BILIA MINI
fontanaarte > Table lamp
Nothing more than a sphere, set in an apparently impossible feat of balance, upon a cone that serves as the base. One of Gio Ponti’s many compositional magic tricks, designed in 1932. The counterbalancing of two elementary geometric forms results in an original, perfectly proportioned object. An unpretentious composition, enriched by the extraordinary balance of its proportions and the stylish discretion of non-reflective materials. The light is diffused and valorized by the geometrical simplicity of the design. In designing Bilia, Gio Ponti imagined a smaller version in a range of “spray colours”. From those handwritten notes of the original project, FontanaArte presents Bilia Mini in new breathtaking chromatic variations.

TAVOLO CON RUOTE XXL
fontanaarte > Side table
An industrial trolley used at the FontanaArte plant to transport glass: this was the object that inspired Gae Aulenti to design her Tavolo con Ruote. It is a specimen of intuitive design that skips the drawing board stage and goes straight from the idea of an everyday item to the prototype stage. This wheeled table replaces the factory trolley’s wooden shelf with a chunky sheet of beveled glass – a tribute to the company’s production history – and fits free-rolling industrial wheels. The nature of the object and its intended use are transformed by replacing just one simple part.
