Bac One

Aesthetics and functionality form the perfect union in the Bac chair range. Envisioned by designer Jasper Morrison, these objects of design were inspired by the namesake table and were created for Cappellini as a natural evolution of the line. Bac, Bac One and Bac Two seats have a frame made of solid ash wood, and are available in a bleached, oak-stained, black-stained, wengé-stained or Shanghai blue aniline stained finish. The seat is made of ash, with the same finish as the frame. For the Bac, Bac One and Bac Two chairs it is also possible to upholster the front of the ash seat with leather or fabric.
POH (Patchwork Oval Hemisphere)

The Poh bench, designed by Raphael Navot, can also be used as a low table and consists of a patchwork of wooden pieces covered with solid natural American walnut. Every Poh bench is a unique object, sold as a numbered edition: in fact, the blocks of wood are manually assembled in a casual manner and then cut by a machine numerically, according to a model that is generated digitally by a computer. A table, a bench and a veritable sculpture: this piece has intentionally been left without a precise definition, in order to upend the premise, “form follows function” to “function follows form”.
Proust

One of the most acclaimed design pieces in the world, the Proust armchair by Alessandro Mendini was launched in 1978, when it was used to furnish the Palazzo dei Diamanti, in Ferrara during an exhibition entitled “Incontri ravvicinati di architettura” (Close encounters of architecture). Shortly thereafter, the piece’s postmodern appeal captured the attention of connoisseurs and design insiders on an international scale. This new edition of the iconic armchair has the traditional hand-carved and hand-painted wood frame with a fixed cover made of multicolour fabric that echoes the frame decor. The Proust armchair is produced in two different multicolour palettes: light blue/grey/yellow or black/green/red.

Inspired by the city cars that casually scoot around the streets of Milan, such as the famous Fiat 500, the Peg Armchair has a low, rounded shape, resting atop solid ash wood legs with a bleached, oak-stained, wengé-stained or black-stained finish. The legs perforate both sides of the backrest: thanks to this detail, the Nendo studio ably provides proper back support and ideal comfort for anyone sitting in this small armchair.

For the Thinking Man’s Chair, Jasper Morrison envisioned a design in which all the elements are functional contributions that ensure the comfort of the seat for prolonged periods of relaxation and pondering: the areas that support the body are made of flat bars and the main structure is tubular; the armchair has armrests equipped with integrated drink rests. The Thinking Man’s Chair is made of varnished metal, available in pure white, violet blue and oxide red colours. Designed by Shiro Kuramata, Bookshelf is a two-sided module made of white matte lacquered panels. The particularity of this bookshelf is the varying size of the compartments, which perfectly reflects Kuramata’s idea that the volume of space required by each object must be proportionate to its dimensions. In this piece, the extreme visual lightness is paired with the net solidity. Suitable for use alone, where it becomes almost sculptural, Bookshelf can also become a continuous bookcase when composed with numerous modules, or be used to divide a space while still allowing light and air to pass through.

Progetti Compiuti

The Progetti Compiuti chest of drawers, designed by Shiro Kuramata, includes an array of furnishing elements with drawers: including two chests of drawers with different shapes SIDE 1 / SIDE 2 (1970); SOLARIS (1977) – a unit with drawers made of wood and metal; and PC_12 (1970) – a piece with 49 asymmetrical drawers, on wheels. The frame of the Progetti Compiuti chests of drawers is made of black-stained ash. The drawers for SIDE 1, SIDE and PC_12 are finished with white matte lacquer; whereas the drawers for Solaris have the same colour and finish as the frame.
Oblong Plus
