Poul Kjærholm created the PK52A Student Desk by bringing wood and steel together in a clean, light construction. With its pared-down expression the desk is a perfect example of Kjærholm’s great contribution to Danish design.

Later in 1955 he designed the Swivel Chair, completing a line of exclusive masterpieces for the CEO’s office. The desk marks the beginning of Wegner’s work on combining sharp steel and sculptural solid wood in elegant and well-balanced solutions.
