FAN CLOCK - Wall-mounted wooden clock _ Vitra - 2d files - 3d files
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
In 1947, American designer George Nelson was commissioned to create a collection of clocks, leading to a revolutionary approach to timekeeping. Nelson observed that people read time by the position of the clock hands, rendering numbers unnecessary, and recognized that clocks had evolved into decorative elements for interiors. This insight inspired the launch of 14 unique wall and table clock designs in 1949, characterized by their lack of numerals and a diverse array of shapes, colors, and materials. Over the next 35 years, Nelson Associates designed over 100 clock models, including wall, table, and built-in clocks. Following Nelson’s passing in 1986, his extensive archive of 7,400 manuscripts, plans, and drawings was acquired by the Vitra Design Museum, which began reissuing the iconic Nelson Clocks in 1999. These clocks, available in various shapes and materials, feature high-quality quartz movements and come with a 1.5-volt battery, offering a stylish and functional alternative to traditional timepieces. A 3D file of the product is also available for download, allowing for a closer look at its design. Vitra, the Swiss family-owned company behind the reissue, is renowned for its innovative and timeless furniture, lighting, and accessories, collaborating with legendary designers like George Nelson to create pieces that blend aesthetics with practicality for homes, offices, and public spaces.
