PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The distinguishing feature of Galerie is the diffuser, which is inspired by both aesthetically and functionally by the antique oil lamps of the Belle Époque. Hand-blown in four layers of glass, where the outer and the inner layers are of two different colors, it reads as white when turned off, then as amber once lit. It is also equipped with a leather strap that allows the fixture to be hung in different positions on the structure. In the floor version, the lamp is available for two uses: a reading lamp with one diffuser, to create the ideal atmosphere for reading, and a floor lamp with three diffusers positioned at different heights, for adjustable ambient lighting. The family also includes a wall version. The combination of materials (glass, leather, metal and marble), unprecedented in a lamp, makes the Galerie family particularly rich, and at the same time elegant and balanced. Galerie expresses the memory of days gone by in a contemporary key.

REGINA

Inspired by the game of chess with their sinuous shapes, Re and Regina are the key characters of the chessboard. Their profiles stand out clearly in the white light diffused by opalescent glass. Real individuals, they play in pairs alternating spheres, cylinders and rings of light. Vertical the King (Re), horizontal the Queen (Regina). They can be placed next to each other or in different spots in the same room, be used as floor or table lamps, on a coffee table or a desk, both Re and Regina have the presence to create a context. The dimmer allows to modulate the light making it a surreal element with different degrees of intensity: an element of representation that releases energy in space when the light is bright, abstract and restful when the light is soft and low. Glass sculptures during the day in environments illuminated by natural light. Re and Regina are inspired by the history of art, from Cosmè Tura to the Flemish interiors of Jan Van Eych to the conceptual imagery of Marcel Duchamp who plays chess as a lifestyle. Re and Regina are Cartesian axes of a universe that crosses ages and cultures. In 2020 FontanaArte reintroduces these glass lamps as a sign of the expressive wealth contained in the great repertory of ideas that is the FontanaArte catalogue and, most importantly an homage to the talent of an artist who had a gift for calibrating the formal tension of a utilitarian object on a quest for unity among the arts.

This extremely elegant table lamp was designed by Max Ingrand in 1955, during the period when this French maestro was artistic director at FontanaArte. Chromed brass joints hold together five tubes made of transparent borosilicate glass that form a series of intersections supporting the lamp.
METAFORA

Metafora was born in the flourishing creative climate of the early ‘80s, when Gae Aulenti took on the role of artistic director for FontanaArte and decided to bring glass back to the forefront of the company’s production. On Aulenti’s invitation, Umberto Riva designed a precious table lamp consisting of a conical shade in layered opal glass supported by a transparent glass base that hides the metal frame, all interlocking. A highly decorative object, produced with traditional techniques like glass blowing and other examples of artisanal know-how, reproposed today to a clientele ever more attentive to originality of design and its timeless expressions.

For one of the most important Milanese architects in the world, whose Bosco Verticale is one of the most representative and iconic projects of our time, trying a lamp was an interesting change of scale. Like FontanaArte's art: it finds form in an object that does not preclude function and from which a light comes to life. lasospesa is in fact a symmetrical table lamp, born from the elementary principle of the incorporation of two cylinders: a cylinder of primary light suspended in a cylinder of diffused light. "A non-lamp with numerous uses and iridescent luminosity, very simple and classic, lasospesa seems to have always been there, where you placed it" says Stefano Boeri.

Inside them are flexible LED light tubes of the latest generation, easily replaceable, with perfectly uniform 360° light emission and certified also for outdoor use. The borosilicate glass is ribbed on the inside, a feature that enhances the light by making it warm and welcoming, brings out the effect of light and shadow, and allows easy cleaning of the smooth outer surface. The light is diffuse, dimmable and available at 3000K (1900Lm/m) or Dim To Warm which allows to change the colour temperature, by dimming, from minumum 1800K to 4000K at maximum intensity. The flux is dimmer-dependent to a maximum of approx 1000Lm/m. The product can be supplied at 2700K on request.

MATRIX LARGE

Both table lamp and art object, MATRIX is the result of the essential design of the duo Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, established designers of the latest generation and founders of the Eindhoven-based Studio OS Δ OOS. When referring to the term matrix, we generally think of a square matrix commonly used in mathematics, i.e. a combination of rows and columns. A third dimension is added by introducing a circle that surrounds the matrix like a ring. The design object becomes a lamp thanks to a light globe, positioned internally and centrally to the matrix, which emits a soft and diffused light in all directions. The grid structure plays with the simple and pure shape of the illuminated sphere. The components of Matrix create transparencies and cast unusual geometric shadows on the surrounding surfaces when viewed from different perspectives. The Matrix project began as a system to allow for endless configurations. The base concept is derived from architectural constructions and solutions for multi-purpose situations, i.e. from the concept of form meeting function.

Both table lamp and art object, MATRIX is the result of the essential design of the duo Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, established designers of the latest generation and founders of the Eindhoven-based Studio OS Δ OOS. A third dimension is added by introducing a circle that surrounds the matrix like a ring. The design object becomes a lamp thanks to a light globe, positioned internally and centrally to the matrix, which emits a soft and diffused light in all directions. The grid structure plays with the simple and pure shape of the illuminated sphere. The components of Matrix create transparencies and cast unusual geometric shadows on the surrounding surfaces when viewed from different perspectives. The Matrix project began as a system to allow for endless configurations. The base concept is derived from architectural constructions and solutions for multi-purpose situations, i.e. from the concept of form meeting function.

Ti, low table by Tonelli Design, is designed by Elisabetta Gonzo and Alessandro Vicari. The two plates that support the base of this design glass low table make up the letter T on the ground, which gives it its name. The Ti coffee table is ideal for the living area and is made of welded glass, which makes the product design homogeneous and linear. The Ti coffee table is available in transparent or extra clear glass finishes and with inclined sides to adapt to any space requirement and furnishing style.

The welcoming nest shape of the Lido family of seats by Italian-Danish duo GamFratesi is the hallmark of its design. The curved silhouette that outlines the body on which the padding of the seat sits now also comes in a two-seater sofa version: a compact furnishing piece, ideal for both home and Hospitality spaces. The design, inspired by the 1950s, recalls the typical stylistic marks of Brutalist architectures, here softened by the masterful use of textured fabrics and comfortable, ergonomic cushions. The volume of the sofa is raised from the ground by four solid wood legs, in Moka-coloured open-pore ash or Canaletto walnut with a Dark Brown stained veneer. Alternatively, it can rest on the iconic X-shaped aluminium base with Moka-coloured open-pore ash finish, imbuing this object with timeless beauty and making it easy to pair with the other furnishing pieces in the collection. The base and legs are enhanced by an interesting decorative insert in Bronze-coloured varnished steel at the top of the legs. The two-seater sofa completes the Lido family, which includes armchairs, ottomans, lounge armchair and dining little armchair - only with legs in solid wood - and coffee tables that sit on the iconic X-shaped base, with round or square top in Bianconero marble or ash wood with a Moka open-pore lacquered finish.

The distinguishing feature of Galerie is the diffuser, which is inspired by both aesthetically and functionally by the antique oil lamps of the Belle Époque. Hand-blown in four layers of glass, where the outer and the inner layers are of two different colors, it reads as white when turned off, then as amber once lit. It is also equipped with a leather strap that allows the fixture to be hung in different positions on the structure. In the floor version, the lamp is available for two uses: a reading lamp with one diffuser, to create the ideal atmosphere for reading, and a floor lamp with three diffusers positioned at different heights, for adjustable ambient lighting. The support can be both self-leveling and fixed: by rotating the pre-included mechanism, it’s possible to switch from one mode to another in few seconds, without any additional accessory. When in self-leveling mode, the head can compensate slopes up to 5%. On the head it is possible to apply the accessories for standard installations (2mm spacers or 4mm spacers), the head for the wooden beam or to add the aluminium joist (on the head with 4mm spacers). Holes have been made on the base to allow the water to flow out, and on the lower side 4 pre-cut lines to easily cut the pedestals when you come to corners or perimeters.

Ambrosia is essentially a line of light that can be converted into a modular system, capable of extending the illumination it offers to adapt to any space. A design that recovers and revisits the tube light, timeless, and updates it so that its simple structure and diffuse lighting add beauty to any space. This collection expands on its possibilities by proposing a change in the plane of light, from horizontal to vertical.This new style of lamp is available in two versions, both of which are pendant lamps. First there is the Ambrosia V, a 235-cm-high vertical structure consisting of two tubes of light of different lengths. An interrupted line of light, a detail that brings lightness and character to the lamp. Its design allows you to choose the lighting, either towards the wall for indirect light, or towards the main space for direct light. This aesthetic and functional design also works well in domestic settings. The other vertical version, Ambrosia V, joins three light tubes placed at different heights, forming a sculptural ensemble. This option can provide a great deal of light and therefore comes with a dimming system for easy lighting control. It is available in two heights of 130 and 175 cm. For Lluís Porqueras, designing consisted of eliminating the superfluous until an essential object was left: beautiful, useful and simple. This was the case with the Funiculí, a 1979 lamp that Marset reissued in 2013 and which has become an emblem of the collection.Lightweight, it takes up almost no space and can function as an ambient lamp or for direct light, depending on how you direct the beam. Its designer released the shade to give maximum mobility. It can rotate through 360 degrees to focus the light where you want and also has a double clamp system for height adjustment. For the Funiculí, forty years are nothing; it has stood the test of time and now comes in new colours that further expand its possibilities. It is no longer only available in the neutrals moss grey, black and off-white. The new colours – green, terracotta and mustard – are intense.
