Eames Plastic Armchair DAX

The DAX chair (Dining Height Armchair X-Base) has a visually understated four-legged tubular steel base, which comes in a powder-coated version that is also suited for outdoor applications.

Embroidered Pillows - Double Heart 2, blue

The designer Alexander Girard drew wide acclaim with his interior concept for the legendary Miller House (1953-57), for which he personally selected each individual object. The centrepiece of the house was a so-called 'conversation pit', a sunken seating area in the living room, with built-in sofas covered in fabrics by Girard and decorated with embroidered pillows made specifically for this setting. <br/><br/>Girard's famous 'double heart' motif was used and varied by the designer throughout his lifetime. It is composed of two intersecting S's that form a continuous loop of mirrored hearts. Each S represents the first letter of the pet names used by Girard and his wife &#8211; Sandro and Susie &#8211; which prompted him to name the double heart symbol '<a href="/en-me/magazine/details/sansusi">Sansusi</a>'.<br/><br/>The embroidered pillow with the 'Double Heart 2' motif was created by Alexander Girard for the Miller family in 1975 &#8211; 20 years after the completion of the Miller House.<br/>

Eames Fiberglass Armchair LAR

The Shell Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames are among the most important designs in the history of furniture. Following their initial presentation at the 'Low Cost Furniture Design' competition organised by the Museum of Modern Art in 1948, the chairs were launched on the market in 1950 in an armchair version (A-shell) and as a simpler side chair (S-shell) &#8211; making them the first ever mass-produced chairs made of plastic. <br/><br/>With the debut of this revolutionary design, Charles and Ray Eames introduced a new furniture typology that has since spread around the globe: the multifunctional chair whose shell can be joined with a variety of different bases. Already in 1950, they presented a series of bases that enabled various sitting positions, including the low-slung LAR (Lounge Height Armchair Rod Base) with a geometric steel wire base, which quickly acquired the charming nickname 'Cat's Cradle' in reference to the children's string game. <br/><br/>The LAR seems to have been one of Charles and Ray's favourite designs: it can be spotted in numerous vintage photographs of the legendary Eames House in Pacific Palisades, both indoors and out. This also reveals how lightweight the chair is, and how easily it can be moved around.<br/><br/>Due to the organic shape of this classic armchair, the LAR is a striking solo piece, but it can also be paired with many types of sofas to create an appealing contrast. The LAR is offered as the Plastic Chair LAR with a polypropylene shell, or as the Fiberglass Chair LAR with a fibreglass shell that draws attention to the lively texture so valued by connoisseurs. The fascination of fibreglass lies in its irregular surface, whose clearly visible fibres make it appear almost like a natural material. The Fiberglass Chair LAR is not offered with full upholstery in order to show off the unique characteristics of this material to maximum effect. However, a comfortable seat cushion is optionally available.

Eames Plastic Armchair DAL

The seat shells of the Eames Plastic Chairs can be combined with a variety of different bases. The base for the DAL chair (Dining Height Armchair La Fonda Base) was developed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1961 for the legendary New York restaurant La Fonda del Sol, whose interior was designed by their friend Alexander Girard. With its central pedestal consisting of four parallel shafts that split at the bottom to form a four-star base, it is one of the most elegant and unconventional bases ever designed by the Eameses.

The Nuage vases produce an attractive interplay of light and shadow with their undulating shape and anodised aluminium finish in various colours. Flowers and grasses can be arranged in each cluster of eight individual tubes, and thanks to their precise outer contours, the vases can also be fitted together to create entire 'cloud formations'.

Organic Chair

Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen created the Organic Chair in 1940 as part of their entry for 'Organic Design in Home Furnishings', a competition organised by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The small reading chair offers superb comfort, thanks to its comfortably upholstered, biomorphically shaped seat shell, and is also available in a version with a higher backrest: Organic Highback.

The two plates that support the base of this design glass low table make up the letter T on the ground, which gives it its name. Linha "Dining"

An expression of the minimalism that pervades the Brazilian architect’s designs, the Linha dining table is a manifesto of his constant pursuit of elegance in the proportions of his creations, and of his almost obsessive attention to detail. Linha, or “line” in Portuguese, is his response to the challenge of designing a dining table with a large span, a structure only 16 mm thick and a top that can reach up to 4 metres in length. Visually, it appears extremely lightweight and airy, despite the strong impact of the materials used, in which marble boldly takes centre stage. In the more sculptural version, the structure designs a bridge, with the top being flush with the sides, whereas in the other tables the blade-like legs, with the section curved on the inside, are set back from the top. The stratified bearing structure with matt black lacquered finish features aluminium sides with Golden Brown finish and a top in Grigio Orobico marble. The top in flamed Tobacco oak and palisander Santos with matt polyester varnished finish is also available – woods that, with their material textures, give great character to the product. The Linha family also includes a round table available in four sizes.

Lido "Dining"

The welcoming nest shape of the Lido family of seats by Italian-Danish duo GamFratesi is the hallmark of its design.  The curved silhouette that outlines the body on which the padding of the seat sits now also comes in a two-seater sofa version: a compact furnishing piece, ideal for both home and Hospitality spaces.  The design, inspired by the 1950s, recalls the typical stylistic marks of Brutalist architectures, here softened by the masterful use of textured fabrics and comfortable, ergonomic cushions.  The volume of the sofa is raised from the ground by four solid wood legs, in Moka-coloured open-pore ash or Canaletto walnut with a Dark Brown stained veneer. Alternatively, it can rest on the iconic X-shaped aluminium base with Moka-coloured open-pore ash finish, imbuing this object with timeless beauty and making it easy to pair with the other furnishing pieces in the collection. The base and legs are enhanced by an interesting decorative insert in Bronze-coloured varnished steel at the top of the legs. The two-seater sofa completes the Lido family, which includes armchairs, ottomans, lounge armchair and dining little armchair - only with legs in solid wood - and coffee tables that sit on the iconic X-shaped base, with round or square top in Bianconero marble or ash wood with a Moka open-pore lacquered finish. 

Miniatures La Mamma

La Mamma (Donna) is completely in tune with the spirit of Pop Art and the Gaetano Pasce fondness for anthropomorphic shapes. The chair was actually designed to resemble a prehistoric, female fertility figure, with a ball attached to symbolize captivity. The unconventional nature of the shape also applies to the construction and marketing of the chair which was one of a series of six.<br/><br/>Together they succeeded in marking a radical break from traditional upholstery production thanks to the technology developed by C & B Italia for creating oversized foam parts. Donna consists of a molded monoblock of foam withut any supporting structure since the foam rubber is dense and free-standing. First a finished piece of furniture covered with elastic nylon jersey is reduced in a vacuum chamber to about 10% of its normal volume and is then wrapped in airtight foil. The customer can easily transport the otherwise unwieldy piece single-handedly. After removal of the wrapper at the destination, the chair slowly recoveres its original shape without outside help as air seeps back into the capillaries of the polyurethane foam.

The support can be both self-leveling and fixed: by rotating the pre-included mechanism, it’s possible to switch from one mode to another in few seconds, without any additional accessory. When in self-leveling mode, the head can compensate slopes up to 5%. On the head it is possible to apply the accessories for standard installations (2mm spacers or 4mm spacers), the head for the wooden beam or to add the aluminium joist (on the head with 4mm spacers). Holes have been made on the base to allow the water to flow out, and on the lower side 4 pre-cut lines to easily cut the pedestals when you come to corners or perimeters.
